Important Note About Selecting a SEVIS Release Date:

Harrisburg University has 6 semesters per year during which students can begin their programProgram availability varies by semester.

Your SEVIS record must be released between the following dates: the day after the previous semester began and the day before your intended semester of enrollment. Please see the chart below for assistance.

You are required to enroll in the next available semester following your SEVIS release date, otherwise you will need to depart the U.S. and return with a new Initial I-20. If your SEVIS record has not been transferred by the day before classes begin, you need to defer to a future semester.

Please use the chart below to determine a SEVIS release date that complies with these rules. You will also need to work with your current institution to set up your SEVIS release date that is appropriate for your situation:

Pre-arrival Steps for F-1 Transfer Students:

Transfer students who currently hold a valid SEVIS record (F-1 status) at another institution must request that their current F-1 SEVIS record be transferred to Harrisburg University. To determine transfer eligibility, students should consult with their current DSO. Please note that your SEVIS record must be in "Active” status when released to Harrisburg University. We cannot accept records in terminated or completed status. Please work with the DSO at your transfer-out school to ensure your record is transferred in active status.

The following steps must be followed:

  1. Apply for Acceptance to Harrisburg University as an F-1 Student
  2. Show your HU Acceptance letter to your Transfer Out School's DSO. Follow their process to Transfer Out your SEVIS record and choose a release date (see above note). Provide your Transfer Out School with Harrisburg University's SEVIS School Code: PHI214F02099000
  3. Pay the Tuition Deposit

  8. Submit a Curricular Practical Training (CPT) Request, if you intend to apply for work authorization beginning from the start of your program. After you receive a confirmation email from the International Student Office that your Transfer I-20 request has been accepted, you may apply for CPT. To do so, login to the Terra Dotta system, navigate to the Request Center and follow the instructions to submit your request. If you are not requesting CPT authorization at this time, you must submit the Academic Work Placement Waiver to the Registration Office
