Students may apply for OPT in their last semester, up to 90 days before their program end date. In some cases, a student with a pending OPT application could end up being ineligible for the OPT due to complications in the final semester.
If any of the following is true at the end of your final semester, you may be unable to continue your OPT plans:
- fail a final course
- be unable to complete a course requirement
- have an overall GPA below 3.0
Please let your DSO know immediately by opening a new Support Request to determine if you need to withdraw your OPT application. Your DSO can help you understand your options, restrictions, and the best way forward to protect your future interests.
