Your SEVIS record is released to Harrisburg University by the DSO at your current institution, the Transfer Out school.
For Transfer students currently Active on Optional Practical Training (OPT) or in a program of study at another school, please request the DSO at your Transfer Out school to set your SEVIS transfer release date within 15 days of HU's program start date and no later than the day before the first day of classes. You cannot remain on OPT or CPT after you transfer your record to HU, and you must transfer your record before HU's semester start.
If there is no overlap with your OPT dates and HU's program start date, set the Transfer Release Date for the day after your OPT or program end date. (For example: Your program start date at HU is September 1, 20XX and your OPT end date is June 10, 20XX, request a Transfer Release Date of June 11, 20XX).
As stated above, if your projected OPT or program end date is beyond your Harrisburg University program start date then you will need to request the DSO at your Transfer Out school to set a release date for before the Harrisburg University program start date. (For example: Your program start date at HU is September 1, 20XX and your OPT end date is October 25, 20XX. Please request a Transfer Release Date no later than August 31, 20XX). You must stop your OPT employment the day before the Transfer Release Date in order to remain in status.
For F-1 transfer, your program at Harrisburg University must begin within 5 months of the end of your previous program.
It is important that you select an appropriate transfer date for the semester to which you are admitted. Please contact ISO if you need help selecting a release date.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Once HU's classes begin, students whose SEVIS records have not been transferred will be withdrawn from classes.
